This Pre Owned Gibson 1964 ES-335 TDC in Cherry Red finish is in very good condition. It has been with the previous owner since 1971 and well maintained throughout ownership. As you can tell from our photographs it has a very attractive looking top with genuine wear and tear to the original finish. At 7.7lbs it has a lovely balance and is very vibey in the hands. The slim neck feels and looks great with wear and tear from over the years that doesn't impact on the playability. The frets are worn but still play well.
This isn't the most original example out there but our price reflects the current condition. Most buyers would look to restore to the original spec and this would no doubt add to it's value.
Here's a few additional things we noted while we had it on our workbench
- We believe it has had a partial re-fret with some of the nibs still visible on the higher frets
- The G string machine head is slightly bent but does still function
- Neck pickup is period correct, Bridge pickup was replaced in the 70's (see pic 5)
- The pickup covers have been removed and no longer included
- Non-original tailpiece, replaced in the late 70's for a different Gibson one
- At some point there was a Bigsby fitted that has since been removed and left holes on the top
- Includes a non original dreadnought shaped case that fits it ok
We've given it a full set up and healthcheck in our workshop with fresh set of D'Addario EXL110's (10-46) and it's now ready to find a new home. For buyers outside of the UK mainland please contact us before placing an order to discuss shipping options.
